Rabbi Shlomo Segal
Rabbi Shlomo Segal has served as our spiritual leader since 2007. Prior to his arrival, he served as the Rabbi of Congregation Ohav Zedek in Bayonne, NJ.
Building upon the rich legacy of FJC, Rabbi Segal has instituted exciting new programs, as well as provided guidance and leadership to valued congregants in their efforts to initiate community programs. These include the monthly Tot Shabbat, the Children’s Model Passover Seder, the monthly Learner’s Service, Friday Night Dinners, shofar blowing workshops, and various thought provoking lecture series’. The Rabbi’s initiatives, along with support provided to him by the congregation, have enhanced the momentum of the synagogue.
The Rabbi’s activities extend beyond congregational life. Rabbi Segal is very active in community affairs. He is a member of the Board of Governors of the New York Board of Rabbis and serves on its task force to end domestic violence, he is a First-Vice President of the Brooklyn Board of Rabbi’s, and he serves on the Executive Board of MORASHAH (The Rabbinic arm of the Union for Traditional Judaism).
